How To Use Vinegar & Baking Soda For Upholstery Cleaning?

What if you just had to use baking soda or vinegar to clean your upholstery? No worries, we got you. These 2 ingredients are hands down the best ones to use for upholstery cleaning. Why baking soda? Because it neutralizes even the nastiest of smells. It does not act as a mask. Baking soda absorbs all the bad smells. Why vinegar? Because vinegar and baking soda both have the properties to break stains, and lift them up from your upholstery fibers. Vinegar, though, does this job better than baking soda. Well, both of them can be the hero for you when it comes to cleaning your sofa.

Vinegar and water
To deal with light stains and settled dust, prepare this mixture. Combine vinegar and water in equal parts and spray it over your upholstery. Let it dry on its own. So, Scrub a little if required, but be gentle.

Baking soda
Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda on your upholstered furniture. Let it sit there for a night. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean it all up the next morning. So, This will remove oil stains and weird odours from your sofa.

Baking soda and liquid detergent
Take 1 cup of water and add 1 tablespoon of baking soda in it along with 1 big drop of a liquid detergent. Spray this solution on a cloth and use the damp cloth to clean upholstery in circular motions. This can also be done for leather upholstery but do the patch test first. Use another cloth to clean it up.

Baking soda and vinegar
Repeat the same process as the previous point. After vacuuming, spray a solution of 50% water and 50% vinegar. This will result in a better cleaning. You can also prepare a paste of baking soda, vinegar and water. Apply this on stained spots and rub gently with a soft brush. Leave it for 5 minutes then and wipe clean using a clean cloth.

Baking soda, vinegar and liquid detergent
Take water and vinegar, one cup each, add one teaspoon liquid detergent and 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Form a paste and apply it on a stained surface of upholstery. Scrub a little and then leave it there for 10 minutes to dry and scrape it out. Wipe with a clean cloth.
